A room scheduling system for the courses offered by the university : a dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Commerce with Honours Lincoln University
Abstract
A room scheduling system has been implemented to assist the timetabler with the allocation of rooms to subjects offered by the University. The timetable schedules are
prepared for the undergraduate degrees and diplomas. In addition, tutorial classes are also scheduled for those subjects requested by lecturers. During the allocation process, various considerations such as room capacity, lecturer requirements and other factors have to be taken into account.
One of the issues confronted when implementing the system deals with the user interface design. For an efficient system to be built, there are many issues and
consideration to be made. Some of these factors are usability, functionality and visual communication of information to the user. The different types of user interface design for systems are presented.
The implementation of the system was written using Microsoft Visual Basic 3.0 (Prof. Ed.) and incorporates Microsoft Access 1.0 for the database management of the
